Dear colleague,

National Scholarship Fund for Teachers: Round 2

We are writing to inform you that the application window for the second round of the National Scholarship Fund for Teachers will open on 30 April 2012.

The primary aim of the National Scholarship Fund for Teachers is to provide an opportunity for teachers to deepen their specialist or subject knowledge.

This round will focus on four priority areas: English, mathematics, science, and special education needs and disabilities (SEN/D).

All applications must be completed and submitted online and the deadline for completed applications is midnight on 17 May 2012.

New SEN Support Scholarship: Round 1

A new national scholarship fund has been introduced by the Minister of State for Children and Families for support staff working with pupils with SEN and disability (SEN/D).

The primary aims of the scholarship are to foster high expectations of those working to support disabled pupils and pupils with SEN in the classroom, and to strengthen knowledge
and understanding of SEN and disability, both in support staff and across the school.

The first round will focus on staff who already have attained a full level 3 qualification, or hold Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status.

Applications for the first round will open on 30 April 2012. All applications must be completed and submitted online and the deadline for all completed applications is midnight on 17 May 2012.

Further information

Detailed information and guidance about both scholarships is available on the Department for Education website.

Applicants should not attempt to complete either of the online forms without first reading the appropriate online handbook.

Yours faithfully,
National Scholarship Team

HLTACSW SUMMER TERM 2012

Dear Colleague

HLTA PREPARATION FOR ASSESSMENT: SUMMER 2012

I am delighted to advise you that HLTACSW will be offering HLTA Preparation for Assessment courses in the Summer term.

It is very important that you and your candidates read the information in the application form carefully before submitting (paying particular attention to the notes relating to maths and English qualifications). Candidates will be required to complete their preparation and assessment within a very tight timescale (6 weeks) so it would be extremely helpful if they could be as prepared as possible before commencing the course – for further information please see the application form. Please note that Best Practice Network will not be able to do assessments after Wednesday 12 September 2012.

Yours sincerely

Sheila Smith

Common Induction Training Programme
TA NewsCommon Induction Training for people working or volunteering with children and young people in Poole

Below are links to further details for the Poole Common Induction Training Programme which is being held over 4.5 days or 11 evenings between March and July at the Orangery, Merley.

There is also a line manager's briefing day on Tuesday 23rd February from 9.30-16.30 at The Orangery, Merley.

It would enhance the multiagency nature of the induction if we could get staff from Poole schools attending these programmes. This programme will complement the pan-dorset LM training which is being held this term.
